Currently, the debate over the revival of traditional Chinese characters or has sparked vehement discussion in China. opinions regarding this issue vary from person to person. some pepple are for it, while others think differently. For my part, i harbor the view that traditional Chinese characters, serving as the stepping stone to the development of traditional Chinese culture, should be revived in primary and secondary school textbooks.

Simplified Characerters: A Tool to Promote Traditional Chinese Culture

 Indeed, what the reviaval of traditional charavters does is a waste of resources. as we all know, the textbooks students utilize nowadays are all printed in simplified characters. in other words, in order to revive traditional characters, all the textbooks should be reprinted so as to replace htose dimplified characters with traditional ones, which is totally a waste of papers as well as productivity. in addition, students are compelled to learn reading and writing traditional characers since those words are different from simplified ones in strokes or forms, which is an extra burden for students. accordingly, traditional characters should be discouraged since a huge price is to be paid in order to revive them. likewise, te simplified characters afford th eresponsibility of promoting and preserving traditional Chinese cultre to a large extent.

The Chinese School System is a large and coherent system that has developed rapidly sin the beginning of the People's Republic of China. Similar to most Western counties, the system mainly consists of three stages: preschools, primary schools and secondary schools. Each stage is closely connected to the adjacent stages, and the education level increases significantly as students progress.

in addition, the pre-school is also an improtant period for the children to foster social ability, for example, to make friends and to communicate with others. the children ought to be taught the rudimental knowledge of morality and some of the basic skills to prepare them into the next period, such as counting, reading alphabets and even making greetings in English and so forth.

As for the second chart, the list of apps can be roughly divided into 3 categories: entertainment, life-needs and education. the columns and figures indicate that the apps for entertainment are downloaded more frequently, including the games-34.7%,the most of all- and social networking apps with 18.8%. the apps for life-needs, such as system tools and lifestyle and photo&video come next, around 30%in total. Only a poor 4.7%of apps are downloaded for reading and education. 

 

*fascinating though they seem, many of the traditional practices are not so frequently used as in older times; new methods are taking their place. Some well-educated people or literature lovers would derive names from idioms, poems, and essays. A professor of my acquaintances is named "Yeqiu",referring to the idiom that "the leaf knows the approaching of autumn." Similarly, some people love to use a single character as the given name to constitute a double-character word with the family name. "Gao Xing",meaning happly, is a perfect example of this. Additionally, some casual parents may let the dictionary make the decision, combining good characters into a name or simply using the word on a randomly chosen page.

Some parents take their genealogy for reference when naming children, so taht siblings share some characters in their names, which make explicit their place in the family tree. For example, Li Huachun's brother may be named Li Huaqiu, having the same character "Hua".
