1. 开头导语懂大意

一般来说，英语新闻的撰写都是严格按照“倒金字塔”式的信息结构，确保最重要的信息在开头便能吸引听众的注意，而最重要的信息往往是5W（时间、地点、人物、起因、事件）和1h（过程）。因此，听懂导语是理解一则新闻大意的前提。但这并不意味着我们必须把导语中每一个词语都听懂并理解，而只是需要抓住主干即可。

例如在以下这则新闻中，较长的导语和其中较多的生词可能让人不知所云，但只要抓住主干Hilary may avoid criminal charges but…FBI her email practices is likely to…through the...election. 即使听不懂较为高阶的词汇searing，rebuke和reverberate，我们也能根据听到的核心句意推测出该新闻将要讲述FBI对希拉里克林顿邮件门的调查结果及其可能影响。

希拉里“邮件门”调查结果出炉

Hillary Clinton may avoid criminal charges, but the searing rebuke of her “extremely careless” email practices Tuesday by FBI Director James B. Comey is likely to reverberate through the November election and, if she wins, well into her presidency.

2.  抓住数字辨细节

英语新闻中包含大量的数字，而中英双语间数字表达的差异导致我们在理解过程中存在着较大的困难。如何能够在听到数字的同时也理解其表达的含义无疑是一个难题，但我们可以采取“上标下标”法来轻松应对数字听辨。

先让我们来回顾一下中英数字表达法的不同。“万”=10 thousand，“十万”=100 thousand，“百万”=1 million，“千万”=10 million，“亿”=100 million，“十亿”=1 billion，“万亿”=trillion。在英汉数字听辨中，我们根据英文中“三位一节”的原则，将听到的数字用下标的方式做好记号。

例如“forty three trillion six hundred and eight billion three hundred and seventy eight million nine hundred and twenty one thousand five hundred and thirty six”可以标记为43, 608, 378, 921, 536，如此便可以较快地在头脑中对庞大的数字形成较为直观的印象。

The Queen is in line for a 6.5% payrise and could net a cool £45.6 million from the taxpayer next year if the way she is funded stays the same. Figures released show a total profit of £304.1 million for the Crown Estate.

Hundreds of people have gathered for a second night of protests at the spot where a black man was pinned to the ground and shot dead by police. Mourners, friends and relatives of Alton Sterling met outside the shop in Baton Rouge where he was killed early on Tuesday morning. Some demonstrators chanted "Black lives matter" and called for justice.
