research is unlikely ever to provide a packaged solution to the challenge of language teaching. however, empricial reaserch does have an improtant place, alongside common sense and experience, in helping teachers to determine what they can and should do to facilitate language teaching.

Teachers are the people best positioned to conduct classsroom investigations.

Techers need to become partners in the research enterprise to find answers to questions of pedagogy.

The ability to do research is not a matter of one's appointed position, but rather one's knowledge, skill, and attitude.(Nunan & Bailey, 2009, p. 5)
