Both pl and nt are consonant clusters of the word' plant' because they occur in one and same syllable. English has a complicated syllable of consonant clusters in which two or more consonants occur in sequence in onset or coda positions. Becuase of this, consonant clusters often bring a considerable difficulties for Chinese learners.
